Water as a Feature

Quiet Pride™

Every pool should hold a focal point. A visual anchor that makes the space not just functional, but unforgettable. At Landfare Ltd., water, stone, and light are the tools of sculpture—each element balancing with the home it serves. Your backyard can be more than a space—it can be a destination.

At Landfare, every project is designed as if it were our own. That’s why we’ve become the trusted name in high-end pools across Upper Arlington, Dublin, Powell, and Grandview Heights.

Fountains, bubblers, and cascades animate the pool surface, turning water into art. Find more ideas at Pool Tile Shade & Style.

Commonly Asked Questions

Why choose Landfare for a custom pool? Every pool we design is a bespoke centerpiece, built with premium materials, precision engineering, and artistic vision. We combine aesthetic impact with lasting durability to create pools that are as timeless as the homes they surround.

Why is a focal point so essential to pool design? "As we say—it’s where stone, water, and architecture converge." A thoughtfully placed sculpture, fountain, or tree draws the eye and establishes your pool as a piece of art, not just a swimming space. John Spayde, Principal & Designer, Landfare Ltd, reminds us: “The theme is Mediterranean, Italian, some French—and always the perfect use of space. That’s what we strive for: a design that fits the space perfectly." This is how your backyard becomes a living, breathing extension of your home.

What’s the difference between bluestone and travertine for pool decks? Stone is not just a surface—it’s foundational. Using materials like bluestone, limestone, or travertine, we echo the architecture of your home through the pool’s terrace, coping, and detailing. These choices create harmony and amplify the pool’s architectural integrity. Bluestone is cool-toned, architectural, and exceptionally durable. It resists water absorption and performs beautifully through Ohio’s freeze–thaw cycles. Travertine offers warmth and Old World elegance, with subtle texture that feels soft underfoot. In our climate, it requires thoughtful sealing and placement, but when used well, it creates a sense of timeless luxury. At Landfare, we don’t just select stone—we choose a palette that feels like an extension of your home’s architecture, ensuring continuity between indoors, terraces, and poolscapes.

How do you ensure the pool fits the space beautifully? Every pool begins with what John Spayde, Principal & Designer, calls a “discovery of vantage points.” We carefully assess views from inside the home, sun paths, and yard airflow to ensure the pool feels inevitable—not an afterthought. In his words: Some spaces are small, and you have to really take care when you’re designing to make sure it fits perfectly.

Can water features also act as design statements? Absolutely. Bubbler jets, cascades, and fountains don't call attention to themselves—they command it. They create theatrical moments and ambiance, transforming water into sculptural expression. As John Spayde, Principal & Designer, says, working with water is like creating a living sculpture.

What defines the 'Palm Springs' design influence in your work? We draw inspiration from mid-century modern living, where pools were architectural features rooted in balance and simplicity. Think clean geometry, sculptural focal points, and use of enduring materials—designed for permanence and style, not trend. As John Spayde, Principal & Designer, captures it: “I’d describe the style as Palm Springs… taking the environment around you… mid-century modern.”

How do you integrate evening lighting for ambiance and safety? Lighting is as much atmosphere as illumination. We use soft LED wall lights within the pool, track lighting on terraces, and restrained up-lighting for sculpture and architecture. The effect is cinematic—night becomes an extended invitation to enjoy your space.

How do automated features enhance both beauty and function? Every element—from electrical cover systems housed in custom-concrete vaults to hidden skimmers—serves both aesthetics and ease. John Spayde, Principal & Designer, emphasizes clean visuals: “When you’re in the pool, you shouldn’t see anything mechanical—only beautiful plaster, tile, and water.” This design philosophy ensures that every detail, whether mechanical or ornamental, helps your pool feel seamless and elegant.

Where is the best place for a pool heater? Ideally, where you cannot hear it. Landfare positions heaters and pumps in unobtrusive, code-compliant locations, concealed with fencing or landscaping. We double pipe runs for easier flow and always evaluate placement during design—so you never face the hum of a heater outside an open window.
